An instructor on one of my first courses told me that, for her, an Outward Bound course was a "personal gift"...a treasure that has meaning for the recipient that others who haven't taken a course find difficult to understand and appreciate. How many times have your tried to explain what happened to you on your course and lost your audience?!
You have arrived at Outward Bound's alumni site and therefore share in that community of interest and spirit that binds all of Outward Bound's alumni together. Today we serve more than 70,000 young people and adults each year...28,000 on wilderness courses that range in length from one to one hundred days.
Our purpose in establishing the OBAA is to make this community available to the next generation of students as a support network while they seek traction for their changed lives. Equally important we seek to encourage all of our alumni to engage in active service in support of their communities. Our events and initiatives will have that purpose, in the true spirit of Kurt Hahn.
